Quick Caramel

Ingredients

1 can of sweetened condensed milk

How to Make It

Take the label off the can of sweetened condensed milk. Put the un-opened can in a pot large enough to hold it and add plenty of water so the can is fully submerged. Bring the water to a boil and keep boiling un-covered for 3 hours. Maintain the water level above the can for the entire time or the can could explode. (Keeping a kettle of hot water going on the side is handy so you can maintain the water level and heat.)
After three hours, remove the can and allow it to rest to room temperature. The top of the can might have bulged up a bit. This isn't a problem.
You can use the can once it is cooled, or store it in your pantry. The caramel is good in a pie crust- either a traditional one or a cookie/graham cracker crust. To do this spread the caramel on the bottom of the pie crust, top with bananas (optional) and whipped cream or cool whip. Garnish with chocolate shavings. Or simply pour on ice cream!
    Enjoy!
